Jeff Dudley is a licensed Fire Protection Engineer and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator with over 20 years of fire protection experience. He has been working with F/RC as a Fire Investigator since January of 2017. Jeff has held many committee and board positions and currently sits on five National Fire Protection Committees including the Board of Directors for the National Association of Fire Investigators. While gaining his experience, Jeff has worked with the Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force and NASA in a variety of unique situations and is known for being one of the best in the fire protection industry. His specialized skills and areas of expertise include, but are not limited to: Building and fire code consulting, Fire protection and life-safety system design and commissioning, Third-party fire protection engineering design/construction review/protection justification, Life safety and fire protection surveys/assessments, Malfunction analysis and Origin and cause investigations.

Currently appointed as the Technical Authority (Authority Having Jurisdiction) at the John F. Kennedy Space Center. Function as the Center’s subject matter expert and authoritative adviser to senior officials for fire protection, life safety, and fire code standards. Perform process verification, system validation, functional management assessments, and advise engineering review boards. Ensure disciplined engineering practices are applied to complex problems by integrating operational concept definitions and evaluating plans, standards for flight and ground systems throughout KSC. Certify NASA and Commercial Partners’ facilities, products, and processes to ensure compliance with requirements. Resolve difficult and complex technical, project management, and organizational risks that may involve extraordinary urgency, workforce safety, public safety, and governmental or commercial partner mission success. Manage the Center’s fire protection program, fire engineering, fire and emergency services, and fire prevention. Identify, analyze, and control hazardous conditions, exposures, and practices. Develop and collaborate Agency fire protection policy with all NASA Center’s. Assist in the development and implementation of Commercial Space Launch Act, Space Act Agreements, Enhanced Use Lease Agreements, and other reimbursable and non-reimbursable agreements.

Fire Protection Engineer
Engineering subject matter expert responsible for ensuring requirement compliance for large passenger vessel designs for adaptations to changing requirements including compliance with the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Navigation and Vessel Inspection Circulars (NVIC), and the International Convention of Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS). Analyzed designs of ships systems using a systems engineering approach and incorporating the use of performance based design in lieu of prescriptive based requirements.
